About

President Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame

A Life of Service and Leadership

Abdirahman Abdishakur was born in Bulobarde, Hiiraan region, into a humble Somali family. He earned a Bachelor of Law from the International University of Africa in Sudan and later a Master of Laws in Comparative Federalism from the National University of Malaysia. His education prepared him to dedicate his life to justice, good governance, and building a stronger Somalia. In 2007, driven by the crisis at home, he returned to Somalia to play a key role in rebuilding the nation. He became the chief negotiator in the historic Djibouti Peace Talks (2008–2009) that paved the way for the Transitional Federal Government. He went on to serve as a Member of Parliament and Minister of National Planning and International Cooperation, where he helped craft Somalia’s first National Development Plan and strengthened ties with the international community. He later worked as a Senior Policy Advisor to the President and with the United Nations to support federalism, resolve conflicts, and prepare Somalia’s 2016 elections. In 2022, he was appointed Special Presidential Envoy for Drought Response, leading nationwide humanitarian relief efforts.

Founder of Wadajir Party

In 2016, Abdirahman founded the Wadajir Party, a political movement for justice, democracy, and unity beyond clan divisions. Wadajir quickly grew into one of Somalia’s strongest voices for reform and accountability, advocating for inclusive governance and equal opportunity for all citizens.

Presidential Runs

  • 2017: First ran for President under the theme Iskutashi (self-reliance).
  • 2022: Campaigned again, gaining further national recognition.
  • 2026: Now running for President once more, marking his third presidential bid, with a renewed mission to deliver peace, prosperity, and dignity to every Somali.

Vision for Somalia’s Future

Abdirahman’s vision is clear: a modern Somali state rooted in unity, democracy, and self-reliance. His mission is to build a government that truly serves its people — transparent, accountable, and focused on security, economic growth, and social justice.
He believes in a Somalia free from corruption, extremism, and clan divisions — a Somalia where citizens are united by national identity and civic consciousness, and where opportunity belongs to everyone.
